PARENTS — KNOW YOUR POWER ON DAY ONE!
At your first court appearance, put your rights on the record:
• 1st Amendment: You have the right to speak, to petition the court, and to defend your family without retaliation.
• 14th Amendment: The State cannot take away your care, custody, and control of your child without due process.
• Strict Scrutiny: Any government interference with parental rights must pass the highest constitutional test.
• Clear and Convincing Evidence: Judges need proof, not accusations, before restricting your rights.
If your attorney refuses to assert these rights, that’s your warning: they work for the system, not for you.
Stand up. Speak out. Make the record.
